One of a Kind Vintage Turkish Hand-Knotted Rugs Continue a Vibrant Tradition

In honor of our 30th anniversary catalog is this special offering of vintage Turkish rugs. We’re thrilled to present these exquisite rugs, as they represent a rich cultural tradition that has been passed down for countless generations.

Bold and colorful, each rug was woven entirely by hand from villagers in the Anatolia region of central and eastern Turkey. Rug and carpet weaving is an important trade economically to the local families and villages and an essential part of the area’s culture.

These vintage rugs curated by Sundance are actually one or two generations old, roughly 60 to 80 years, and very gently worn from their previous use in local village homes. All were woven with the durable double-knotting that is distinctive to rugs from Turkey, which means they are heavy, dense and designed to be cherished for multiple generations.

Each rug is truly a one-of-a-kind work of fine art, varying both in its size and design. All are handmade from natural wool fibers, with some of the deep, rich colors coming organically from plant-based dyes.

We at Sundance feel fortunate to offer these unique Anatolian heirlooms. Our supply of rugs is quite limited, however, so don’t wait to choose a style and size that would make a beautiful statement in your home.
