Celebrating 100 Years of National Parks…

by - Tuesday, April 12, 2016

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service and the first official National Park in the United States. We are continuously in awe of the natural landscape in this country, and are thrilled to celebrate this landmark occasion.

As former President and ardent supporter of the National Parks Service, Theodore Roosevelt said, “There are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness, that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy, and its charm."

His words are a source of inspiration, and as we recognize this milestone, we are reminded to support the preservation of the one-of-a-kind beauty in our national parks. In recognition of the centennial event, we have partnered with select companies to offer a unique National Parks collection.

Parks Inspired Throws by Pendleton

Pendleton is an authentic American company that we are proud to support. For six generations and more than 150 years, the company has remained dedicated to its American heritage and fabric craftsmanship. The passion for quality can be seen and felt within the intricate patterns of their luxurious, beautiful blankets.

We are working with Pendleton to commemorate the centennial celebration of America’s national parks with a park-themed blanket collection to benefit a restoration campaign. The designs are inspired by the scenery and natural features found within the parks.

In support of preserving the National Park Service, Pendleton has launched a yearlong America’s Treasures campaign, and a portion of the sales, up to $500,000, will be donated to the National Park Foundation to support landmark park projects. By offering these keepsake blankets from Pendleton’s National Parks Collection, we are participating in funding these two important projects to protect and enhance the country’s legacy of national parks.

Parks Project is an exceptional company and champion of the great outdoors whose mission is to raise awareness, funding, and action to preserve the pristine wilderness of our country’s national parks. We are thrilled to be partnering with this group, inspired by those who fought to protect America’s greatest landscapes in the creation of the National Parks Service, as it is through the foresight of these individuals from the past that we are able to experience the most awe-inspiring views and landscapes today.

All the items produced by Parks Project are created with the purpose of funding and promoting projects that restore our national parks. Every product sold contributes back to habitat restoration, animal conservation, educational initiatives, and visitor services across America’s Parks, and as a partner, purchasing these items through Sundance supports these efforts.

National Parks Adventure Narrated by Robert Redford
As we celebrate the spirit of our national parks on this 100th Anniversary event, it is important to share in what makes them special. We are honored our founder, actor Robert Redford, lent his voice to narrating the Travel Channel’s documentary National Parks Adventure. The film visits such National Parks as Yellowstone in Wyoming and Montana, the Everglades in Florida, the Redwoods in California and the Arches in Utah.

"National Parks Adventure captures the stunning beauty of our wild places and reminds us these landscapes are an essential part of the human spirit," Mr. Redford said. Mr. Redford’s passion is the foundation for our admiration of the beauty in nature, and we will continue to support his vision.
