Sundance founder, Robert Redford, and his son Jamie are offering the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own their Yamaha DT 250 motorcycle in a charity auction through Charitybuzz. The package also includes a private meet-and-greet with both Robert and Jamie Redford in San Francisco, CA.

The bike is quite special to the Redfords. It was first gifted to Robert in 1971 by the producers of the film Little Fauss and Big Halsey, and it later appeared with him in The Way We Were (1973). Redford developed a passion for adventurous rides through Utah’s Canyon Lands. Jamie recalls his wild rides with his father: “One time we were riding in the foothills of the Utah Valley, and we went off the road to avoid a stalled car. Dad flipped right over the handlebars and landed on his feet in a crouch. Dad in a nutshell!”

The bike has since been passed down to Jamie, who is following in his father’s philanthropic footsteps. He is donating the proceeds from the auction to the Redford Center, a non-profit organization they started in 2005 working to promote the power of stories to increase positive change and public engagement on frontline issues through film, video and new media.

In 1969, Robert Redford founded Sundance at the base of beautiful Mount Timpanogos in Utah's Wasatch Mountains and started Sundance Catalog in 1989. His belief in supporting the artist community is a core value of the Sundance brand and is the foundation for the celebration of the independent spirit and authentic self.
