A group of dedicated craftspeople in India transform pieces of excess fabric into stunning, handmade wrapping paper using the art of hand block printing. This technique dates back to the Royal Era and requires skilled artisans to carve intricate designs into wooden blocks using a chisel and hammer.
The accuracy of this art is passed down from one generation to another, as a single block can take a few days to carve. The ink color paste is then applied to the finished blocks, and the design is transferred to the paper. The relationship with Sundance provides employment to these skilled craftspeople and encourages the continuation of this beautiful tradition.
